Much love. Hey there. Welcome to cosmically Inspired, a podcast for creators who want to enhance their project, planning, making, and launching with astrology. I'm your host, Claire Gallagher. I'm an astrology author and creator, and I'm so glad to have you here today. Today we are going to the basics and we're gonna talk all about.
The planets from a creativity and business perspective.
In my opinion, the planets are the most important part of astrology. I could take or leave the zodiac signs, I could take or leave the houses, but gimme the planets all day long. They're the movers and the shakers in astrology, they are the actors, they are the doers. They make things go. [00:02:00] And when we're thinking about planning our creative projects, we wanna work with the planets and understand their unique gifts and skill sets so that we can leverage certain planets at certain times in the creative process.
Today I am gonna go through the seven traditional planets and talk about their quote, job title and job description, and how you can use them in your creative projects.
I'm gonna waste no time. Let's go ahead and get started right away with our friend, the son. The sun in creativity and business is, in my opinion, considered the vision holder. That's its job title. You could also think of it as the CPO or the Chief Planet Officer. Its job is to set a clear vision and mission for your project or your business.
It's also meant to define and uphold your public image, your brand, your [00:03:00] reputation, and to ensure that everything you do, your project, your business, all your ventures are viable and in alignment with your greater mission. So again, the sun is about vision. It's about mission, it's also about visibility. So you want to plan or work with the sun when you want to launch a creative project or you want to receive some attention.
And it's also about viability. So is this particular project or business venture or service or product, does it actually have life in it?
The sun can help you identify what it is that you're actually making, and that's really important in the creative process. Sometimes we don't know what we're making right away, and that's okay. That's part of the messiness, that's part of the beauty of the process. But working with the sun can help you clarify what it is that you're actually doing.
I consider the moon [00:04:00] the team manager when it comes to the planet's in creativity and business. Let me back up a second. I think of the planets as. A team of helpers that are raring to go to assist you in all your creative and business endeavors. And they each have a particular role to play and the moon's role is to make sure all the other planets are good.
Including you. You're not a planet, but the moon is making sure that you are taken care of. So it's the planet that manages the rest of the players. So the moon's job is to set the daily workflow by dividing the sun's vision. Remember, the sun is the vision holder into realistic and attainable actions.
So we could say that the moon sets the flow, it sets how the project is going to be accomplished. It sets your creative pace, it sets your routine in a way. And so this planet is [00:05:00] exceptionally important in the whole like creative milieu. Its job is also to care for the human resources of your company, which is AKA U.
It encourages nourishment. It encourages the elusive work life balance, and it wants you to create comfortable working conditions for yourself. So your moon sign and also the transiting moon in the sky right now can give you clues as to what you might need to feel supportive as you're making and as you're creating.
So again, the moon sets the workflow and the pace. It supports human resources in the company a, k, A in you, and it helps us modify our plans and timelines based on the energy capacity that we have and that the cosmos has as a whole. So the moon is like a satellite that picks up and beams down to us all [00:06:00] the energy from the other planets.
And so in that way, the moon's aspects and phase and all of that stuff and sign can give us a little information about the energetic capacity that we have to bring to our projects, and therefore we can use the moon to help ourselves modify our plans and timelines accordingly.
Next up is our friend Mercury. In our job title play, I've given Mercury the title of tech and communications manager. So remember that the Sun is the vision holder. The Moon is the team manager and then there's Mercury and its job is to take the vision of the sun, AKA, your creative vision and to communicate that vision using language or numbers.
So it gets the word out there. It sorts and organizes. It receives and sends communications about your project, and it sets up all the systems that are needed [00:07:00] to make it. That includes the technological systems that connect you and your project to the outside world. Mercury also helps you brainstorm and network with like-minded individuals or people who can help you push your project along.
So it facilitates the exchange of ideas, goods, and services among people and among planets.
Its job is also really analytical, so you can use Mercury to analyze how your creative project is going, how it's performing, quote unquote, and then it can report its findings back to you and back to the rest of the planetary team. Mercury's job is also in business, especially to track and manage all the small calendar details like deadlines and meetings.
So if you're planning to plan, plan to plan with mercury. So again, as a recap, Mercury's jobs are to create, send, and receive communication [00:08:00] in your business. Its job is to set up and maintain the tech use to create your projects, but also to launch your projects and share them. And its job is to analyze and report its findings about the performance of your project and to calendar and track small details.
The next planet on my list is Venus, and when we think of creativity, classically, we think right away about Venus. But I hope with this podcast episode you get to understand that all of the planets are important in the creative process, and they all have a part to play. However, Venus's job title in my little schematic here is the creative relations Consultant.
So Venus's job is to take the son's vision and use instead of communication stuff like words or numbers, its job is to use design and [00:09:00] feeling and imagery to communicate your project's vision to others. It's like the look good, feel good planet. Its job is also really relational.
That's Venus's job. In the natal chart, it describes how we connect with others, how we love and receive love, right? So Venus, in a creativity and business standpoint, its job is to share and promote your project or your business in a way that is compelling and consistent with your personal image, your values, and your personal aesthetic.
On top of that, Venus also has a lot to do with client relationships or business partnerships or creative muses and creative partners, and can help you make sure that you create a delightful customer experience and establish mutually beneficial connections with collaborators.
So as a recap, Venus's Jobs as the [00:10:00] creative relations consultant are design and imagery are to promote and share value and make sure what you're making is in alignment with your own values, to nurture relationships and to connect and collaborate.
The next planet is Mars and Mars's job title. The job title that I've given it is the head of short-term Operations and Strategy. It doesn't sound super creative, but it's super duper important. Mars's main job is to execute it, is to get stuff done. So it takes your urgent plans and tasks and it checks 'em off the list.
Mars's job is also to identify and remove obstacles that prevent you from fulfilling your mission efficiently. So this planet is about. Clearing the way for you to get your work accomplished and its job is to energize you and make sure you have what you need to get that work [00:11:00] done. However, a healthy Mars does not meander and waste time.
It's very efficient and it wants to go in the straightest, simplest way from A to B. So Mars helps you execute essential tasks efficiently, and the keyword here is essential. Mars will help you also identify what's essential and what's not. Mars will help you identify and remove obstacles, whether they are like self-sabotage or actual practical things that are in your way, like scheduling, snafus, et cetera.
Mars will help you see those and cut them out. And Mars will help you just do the work. So producing your project, manufacturing, making, and even repairing a couple things if you need to go back and revise and revisit. Mars can fix things that are quote, broken.
Basically within the creative process and within business, Mars is really good at simplifying things [00:12:00] for us. And taking out the things that are excess. They're not necessary. They're time wasters, they're spinning our wheels. It removes those things. Mars is sharp like a knife. It slices and dices. It cuts things out.
And Mars also intensifies things, so it turns the energetic knob all the way up. And sometimes if you're, if you have a strong Mars, or if you're having a Mars transit, you're gonna have more oomph and gumption to do more work than usual. So paying attention to Mars can be really helpful if you've got a lot on your plate.
Next step is our friend Jupiter. And Jupiter is all about expansion and within creativity and business, I've given it the job title of growth consultant. So Jupiter's job is to spread the word. It's going to take your creative project and disseminate and distribute it all throughout the world. [00:13:00] That would be nice, right?
Whatever you've made it wants to take a megaphone or a bullhorn and say, look at this amazing thing. Buy it now. Okay, so it's also a wisdom planet. And it wants to help you develop your skills and to learn more in your craft and in your lane, so you can time or use Jupyter to plan professional development and improvement, to take courses and classes, or to teach courses and classes if that's something that you do.
Jupiter is also a planet that's all about feeling good and being happy and being content. And so within business, it's a planet that helps us maintain morale and maintain our purpose. We wanna feel like what we're doing matters and that it has meaning. And Jupiter is the planet of meaning and purpose in the birth chart, and therefore in business.
Basically, Jupiter wants [00:14:00] to make sure that you stay connected to your why or the meaning behind why you make what you make, or why you do what you do. So recap. Jupiter's job is to disseminate and distribute. It's job is to grow your creativity, your business, your inspiration, your. Bank account is also, um, a planet about direction, and it can help you take the first step forward or map out where you're going.
It's a big picture, big perspective. Planet Jupiter is all about professional development and morale and meaning.
And last, but certainly not least, we have Saturn. Saturn is so. Eager to work hard that I've given it two job titles. The first job title is the head of Long-term Operations and [00:15:00] Strategy. That's in opposition to Mars, who was the head of short-term operations and strategy. And the second job title I've given Saturn is office manager.
So Saturn has a lot to do, but luckily Saturn doesn't have a social life and it doesn't really know the word. Fun. So we can go ahead and load up the tasks on Saturn. Saturn's job description in creativity and business is essentially to create long-term plans that extend for many years.
So when we're planning with the sun, or we're planning with the moon, we're usually working on monthly. Timelines, maybe annual timelines, but when we're working with Saturn, we're working with really long spans of time and planning with Saturn and creating with Saturn takes commitment and endurance and time with a capital T.
Saturn's job is also to help you create the structures [00:16:00] and systems that allow your creative projects or your business to run smoothly, and it has to maintain and replenish any structures or systems that have kind of disintegrated. So this means building things up, rebuilding things, repairing things, and making sure everything is firm and has a good foundation.
Saturn's job is also to end things, and this is hard in the creative process, but sometimes it's necessary to know when enough is enough or to know when you're finished or to know when a project is no longer working for you. Right. And so Saturn can help you terminate irrelevant projects, products, or services or even collaborations with other people.
And of course there's things that as creatives, we tend to not often like to do, like the financial stuff and the legal stuff. But using Saturn to plan and schedule those [00:17:00] legal and financial things can be really helpful.
So as a recap, we have Saturn managing our long-term plans, Saturn managing our systems and structures. It manages our terminations and endings, and it maintains any legal or financial status.
And there you have it. Those are the seven traditional planets from a creativity and business standpoint. I hope you found this interesting. Something for fun that you might want to play with is to pull out your birth chart and notice if you have, and you know this is a can of worms, the statement I'm about to say, but that's all right.
If you know you have a really strong planet. Or if you have a really weak planet, that's gonna give you clues as to what parts of your creative process or what parts of your business are really healthy or might need a little help and attention, or maybe even outside [00:18:00] assistance. So for example, if you have a really weak Saturn, you might need outside assistance with long-term planning and taking a bigger picture view.
Or if you have a really strong Saturn, you might struggle with moving forward with things right now without overthinking how it's gonna fit into the bigger picture.
Another example. If you have a really weak Jupiter, it might be a struggle for you to market or share about your creative projects. You might be a little shy to do that, but if you have a really strong Jupiter sharing and disseminating what you know feels like second nature and feels really natural to you.
So take a moment to pull out your birth chart, find any planets that feel really prominent to you, whether in a strong way or a weak way. And consider if the jobs that they do are, you know, not so great and need a little TLC or if they're doing an awesome job
so yeah, evaluate your planetary job performance and [00:19:00] see what you come up with. Okay, I'll talk to you next time.
